£200m Regeneration of Torbay moves forward
Torbay council are pressing ahead with the £200m regeneration of Torbay and The Strand following a public consultation.
LRS are delighted to have provided Land Referencing Services to the project, which received levelling up funding from the government.
The redevelopment is projected to provide approximately 150 full-time jobs, £32m in wages, and bring 86,000 new visitors over a 30-year period, Torbay Council said.
Better Connected
The design for the project features a sweeping staircase which will "better connect" the harbourside to the Terrace, the council added.
This multi-million-pound scheme will look to deliver a c154-bedroom boutique hotel. In addition, plans include a rooftop terrace and ground floor space for food, drink and retail uses that promote the best of Devon. It would also deliver a much-needed economic boost to the area, creating more than 150 full time jobs.
Torbay council released a video to show how the regeneration will revitalise the area: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbrYiG-wibA
Chris Wheeler, Head of Land and Development at Willmott Dixon, said:
“We’re building on what’s already great. These towns have brilliant local businesses, creative people, and a strong sense of place. Our job is to support that—not replace it. Regeneration should help the community thrive and give local brands, businesses and entrepreneurs the platform to grow and share in collective success.”
