£2bn in funds released by the Government in 2nd round of Levelling Up
The Government has released more than £2bn in Levelling Up funding to over 100 projects across the UK.
The £4.8bn Levelling Up Fund has helped 216 projects so far, with more to come. It also supports community groups to save local landmarks through the Community Ownership Fund.
The Government contributes to the Levelling Up agenda by investing in infrastructure that improves everyday life across the UK. This includes regenerating town centre and high streets, upgrading local transport, and investing in cultural and heritage assets.
Round 2
In addition, a total of 111 areas have been awarded a share of the £2.1 billion from Round 2 of the Levelling Up fund.
Michael Gove, Levelling Up Secretary, said, ‘We are firing the starting gun on more than a hundred transformational projects in every corner of the UK that will revitalise communities that have historically been overlooked but are bursting with potential.’
Major government investment will benefit millions of people across the UK and spread opportunity to historically overlooked areas. This includes £672 million to develop better transport links and £821 million to kick-start community regeneration. In addition, £594 million will go to restoring local heritage sites.

Successful bidders include:
Borough of Telford and Wrekin £20,000,000 for Broadening Aspirations through Education and Culture,

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spoke recently about the way Levelling-up funding had been allocated.
He said: “If you look at how we are spending this money, it is disproportionately benefiting people in the North East, the North West, and that’s great.”
